KORERO FROM MIRANDA
Kia ora, kia kaha, kia noho whakakotahi Rototuna e te whānau
A warm hello to you all as we celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. An important part of our culture, history and identity is language. Our cultural council has organised a great week of activities for us all to participate in as we work together to build our confidence and celebrate speaking Te Reo Māori. Last night Rototuna Junior and Senior High hosted a performance evening for 5 of our local primary schools along with our own amazing kapa haka rōpū.
The performances by all the ākonga representing these schools were amazing. Thank you to all the kaiako, pouhere, whānau, mana whenua - Ngati Wairere and friends who supported this event as we acknowledge the importance of Te Reo Māori as the unique language of our country. Ka mau te wehi!
As you read through this newsletter you will find out about Azariah O’Brien who was chosen to exhibit her artwork at Ringa Toi in Wellington, which is an outstanding achievement. You will also find out about two upcoming events, the Kaumatua Olympics and our Puna Wānanga showcase as well as important course information.
Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you at our Puna Wānanga showcase next Wednesday.
Ngā manākitanga,
Miranda
