Rototuna High Schools

KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Nau mai hoki mai Rototuna e te whānau,

Welcome to Week 4, Term 2.

To help track learning, a new progress report will be available early next week for your student so keep your eyes peeled! We will be providing your student with a printed version as well as emailing the update to you. This update is based on the evidence of learning your student’s kaiako (teachers) have seen to date. I encourage you to have conversations with your student(s) about the progress they are making and their next steps. A reminder that you are all warmly invited to an information evening next week at 5.30pm on Thursday. The focus will be on supporting your students' academic and personal success. More details are included later in this newsletter.

It is this time of year that heralds the preparation for changeover from Semester 1 to Semester 2. This is the opportunity for your Year 11 and 12 students to select new modules for the second half of the year. Modules enable our students to experience learning that is connected across two different learning areas. This integration acknowledges and builds on the relationships which exist among all things, encouraging our students to apply relevant skills and understandings across different contexts. These modules are a chance to explore new subjects and open up new experiences that our students may decide to pursue when they make their year long specialist class selections.

Selections have occured during whānau time. Please make sure to contact your student’s kaiārahi | whānau advisor if you have any questions. There will also be an opportunity to discuss this at whānau conferences. In the meantime you can find more details and a link to the selection coursebook on Te Hīnaki and the website.

Ngā mihi,

Miranda
