RJHS Newsletter - Term 1, Issue 1

KORERO FROM FRASER

Welcome back to our returning students and whānau and a warm welcome to our new students and whānau. We have a number of new staff who have started with us over the last term days also and it is great to be able to welcome them in our first eNews of the year.

The start of the year is always an important time for establishing expectations and setting up good routines that will support positive learning outcomes for all of our young people and importantly create the safe, warm and caring environment we want for all of our people. In the first instance whānau can support us by ensuring all students come to school in appropriate school uniform, have all the equipment they need for learning and chat about the learning and routines that are being established at school. This is the beginning of a positive partnership between us, the student and yourselves. We are really committed to establishing clear and high expectations and are sure this is exactly what you all hope for when you entrust us with your young people.

I encourage you to make contact with your child’s Learning Advisor in the first instance if you have any questions or queries that come up or if you simply would like to pass on some important information or introduce yourself. Email is the best way to initiate this but if you would prefer a phone call in return then please by all means request this.

A huge thank you for all whānau who have signed up to help on our various EOTC activities. This is a great way to connect with our staff and many of our young people who you otherwise can’t put a face to a name at home if they are mentioned. We can’t do these activities without your help either.

In the next few eNews bulletins, we will share a range of important information about learning and events. I want to encourage you all to find some time each fortnight to read through these bulletins as they are an important part of our communication to our wider community. Accessing Schoology and Facebook along with emails home are similarly important and we are doing our best to streamline this information flow as much as we can this week.
