Rototuna High Schools

KORERO FROM FRASER

Welcome back to Term 4, everyone. Yes, again not how we wanted to start our term in Level 3 lockdown but let’s hope for positive news this Friday. An extra special welcome to Chris Langley who has started with us as our new Deputy Principal this week. We are looking forward to having Chris on our team.

With lots of information coming your way no doubt via remote work environments and from other staff at school this eNews is about essential information to support our remote learning programmes and to ensure you know what is happening online.

All students are expected to be online and in attendance for one Google Meet for each module they have, each week. These start at their normal scheduled class time. Flight times are the same and advisory groups check in both Monday morning and Friday afternoon. The online face to face sessions are compulsory and super important to ensure learning and expectations are clear for all students. Any help you can offer to map out a timetable for the week with the young person/people in your house would be great.

Please be attuned to any excuses for not having to attend sessions. As I have said, full class Google Meets are held once a week and are compulsory. For Year 7 & 8s they should attend a minimum of 5 Google Meets in a week, for Year 9 & 10s this figure is 8. This term we have added additional ‘drop-in’ Google Meet sessions as well that some students can choose to attend or will be invited to so teachers can check on progress or offer additional support.

When in Google Meets, student cameras should be on so we can engage with them as best we can.

If there is an issue in your household with internet connection or device availability please let your child’s advisor know this. I would ask that you consider them coming along to a bubble at school where we can provide a device. Below is another sign-up form for L3 attendance at school for next week.

Level 3 Attendance for Week 2 and 3, Term 4
