Celebrating Student Successes
Congratulations to Navya Chaudhary (Year 10) who has won this year's National Youth Art Award 2022 (13/14 years of age category) with her painting titled 'Numb'.
The competition is organised by Waikato Society of Arts and this announcement was made at a function held on 4 August at Wintec.
Description of Numb, as written by Navya -
This piece expresses the state of mental exhaustion and grief. Pain can consume one's mind until there's nothing but an empty shell of a person remaining. As the gateways to the soul convey less and less, they slowly disappear. And what's the point of gateways if they open to nothing?
Navya successfully sold her artwork within 24 hours of winning the award and also won the 1st place prize money of $500.
