Hanahaki | RHS Animation Assessment by Joyce Li

Digital Technology Assessment - Student Work

Have a look at some of the amazing animations by our students for their NCEA Level 2 assessment -

Joyce Li - 2D computer (hand drawn) animation (Year 11)

Info:

I intend to make a 2-dimensional short animation film on japanese culture, about the flower disease called the hanahaki. "Hanahaki Disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love."

Joyce drew her animation frame by frame, entirely on her own - such an incredible feat!

Jaymee Frater - 2D computer (hand drawn) animation (Year 12)

Info:

I want to create a 2D hand drawn animation that entertains and inspires an audience with the age range of 5-10. The animation will be lighthearted and follow a theme of loneliness and friendship through a bird and an egg.

(synopsis)

A lonely bird looks out onto the landscape and sees other animals are all in pairs. He sighs. Suddenly an egg drops from the trees above him and bounces into a branch. He is startled by the egg, he then becomes curious of what is in it. The bird cautiously pecks the egg and it cracks. It shakes and out pops a baby dinosaur who immediately takes to the bird and the bird is no longer lonely.

Ben Mcmorran - 2D computer vector animation (Year 11)

Info:

I want to create an animated music video with my cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers “Dark Necessities” as the audio. I have chosen this song because I am playing it for my music standard. My target audience will be people that listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so my outcome will be influenced by this factor as I will design it to fit their wants and expectations.

Vania Mehdi - 2D computer vector animation (Year 11)

Info:

This animation is intended to enable the members of our society to understand the extreme negative impact of mental health issues on an individual. It will hopefully additionally allow the people suffering from these mental illnesses to relate, and feel understood as there is still a lack of representation of this in the media (in my opinion).
