KORERO FROM MIRANDA
Kia ora Rototuna e te Whānau,
This is our last eNewsletter for Term 2. We have had a big term, completing learning and assessments from the first half of the year, moving into Semester 2 programmes and looking for opportunities to bring our school community together, for example our Matariki celebrations last week. Thank you all for the continued support and encouragement you give to your students and to our school.
Last week we completed negotiations with the University of Waikato to establish a satellite campus. We now have a space at the University that is dedicated for our students’ and their learning. From our consultation with you the main objectives for students attending the campus will be to:
polish and deepen NCEA responses prior to hand in,
acquire and apply academic skills (research, writing, studying),
strengthen transitions into tertiary education,
work with academic experts and apply this to school learning.
These programmes will be offered to our Year 12 and 13 students and coordinated through our Satellite Campus Director, Nicola Foote. Nicola will be working from the site and managing programmes as we would for any Education Outside the Classroom opportunities involving our staff and other experts. You, as parents and caregivers, will be contacted as part of this process to seek your permission if and when your student has the chance to attend. We are looking forward to programmes becoming available in Term 3.
In the meantime, I hope you and your families have a good term two break. Best wishes and stay safe
Ngā mihi,
Miranda
