Welcome to Week 5 everyone. Hard to believe that half of this term is already done.
Since early this year we have had a focus on different SOAR expectations. SOAR articulates the sorts of behaviours and attitudes we expect to see in our students to ensure they are focussed and respectful learners and citizens within our school and community.
S = WE STRIVE TO DO OUR BEST ALWAYS
O = WE ARE ON TIME READY TO LEARN
A = WE ALWAYS USE TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL FOR LEARNING
R = WE RESPECT OURSELVES, OTHERS AND OUR SPACE
Our fortnightly focus includes opportunities to teach and model the expected behaviours in all areas of SOAR and allows us as a staff to revisit our expectations to ensure we have consistently high expectations across all staff. Focus areas have ranged from uniform and punctuality through to learning behaviours such as completing learning tasks.
Currently we have a focus on lifting the quality of student learning output. With the COVID disruptions that continue to affect us, we have noticed that we have more learners who require more encouragement and redirection to ensure they not only complete tasks but also do so to the best of their ability. Our focus has been on celebrating the students who continue to do their best always and many of you will have received emails acknowledging your child/ren’s SOAR efforts in this area. We are also doing our best to send reminders to parents and caregivers of those students who are consistently not meeting expectations of completing learning tasks to a high standard.
If you do receive communications then please feel free to touch base with teachers and/or advisors. We welcome these conversations and want to work together to get the best from all of our young people.
