KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Kia ora Rototuna e te Whānau,

Cabinet met yesterday to review the alert level settings, and at 4pm the Prime Minister confirmed that most of the country, including the Waikato will move to Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm tonight, Tuesday 31 August. Auckland will remain at Alert Level 4 for at least another two weeks and Northland will move to Alert Level 3 at midnight on Thursday 2 September if tests remain clear.

At Level 3 Senior School students must stay at home and lessons will continue to be delivered remotely.

Students over the age of 14 are able to remain at home unsupervised. This is a public health measure, not a school decision and we all need to do what we can to minimise the potential spread of the Delta variant.

The school gathered information from students and based on this has coordinated and delivered devices and resource packs so our students can continue to progress their NCEA from home.

As a reminder the routine we have set includes:

  1. Live learning experiences scheduled to cover all the specialist learning on your student’s time table.  There are two live learning experiences every day focussed on progressing NCEA tasks.

Self directed learning to progress tasks 12.30pm - 3pm

   2. Whānau check-ins every Wednesday 10.00am -10.30am

If your student is not sure what to do in a subject, please get them to email their teacher. If your student requires any other support please reach out and contact their Kaiārahi (advisor). We have systems in place to help us coordinate support, so please be in touch if your young person needs anything.

As you may be aware NZQA has moved all exam dates and portfolio due dates back by two weeks from the original dates. These changes are covered in more detail later in the newsletter. As a school we are assessing the implications of this change on our school calendar and key events. We will let you know how events will be affected and any adjustments that have been made.

Finally, I hope you are all staying safe and looking after yourselves and the people around you. Remember…

Be kind.

Stay safe.

Stay home.

Wear a mask if going out!

We got this team!!

Ngā mihi,

Miranda
