NCEA

NCEA

Most students will now be well under way with their first NCEA internal assessments.

Some of these assessments will have already finished or be nearing completion.  Others will be working on learning that will be assessed externally, such as in a portfolio or an end of year exam.

To learn more about NCEA generally, NZQA has provided a short video explaining how it works on this page. For information about how it operates at Rototuna Senior High School, including how to apply for an extension, appeal a grade, maintain academic authenticity when using AI and a range of other topics, go to this page on Te Hīnaki.

Uniform

Important Message About Uniforms

As indicated in previous newsletters our Uniform supplier is changing.

The new supplier will have stock available for purchase from Monday 31st March. Our uniform will be unavailable for purchase from March 24th for one week.

This will allow an opportunity for our new supplier to conduct a stocktake of current stock.  Once this is complete, the Rototuna High Schools uniform supplier will be Uniform Group, under their retail brand The U Shop.

Their physical store is located at 125 Ward Street, Hamilton. They will also have an online store. Based on feedback from students and whānau, we are also making design changes to our:

  • Skirts (Long and short versions)

  • PE shirt

  • Cut of trousers and shorts for both female and male

New items will be available throughout the year when they are ready.

There will be a transition period where existing stock of all uniform items are phased out and are replaced by new uniform pieces. For all of 2025 and 2026, all existing or new RSHS uniform items can be purchased by all RSHS students.

From 2027, all new students will be expected to purchase and wear new uniform items. Existing students can continue to wear all items until they need to be replaced. Should you have any issues in outfitting your student in correct uniform during the transition period there are a few options available:

  • There is a selection of uniforms available second hand from our school reception.

  • You could hold off purchasing warmer options until needed e.g. once winter starts.

We encourage whānau to ensure they have enough uniform items, especially shirts/tops to get through the week, allowing for laundry days. An increasing number of students are coming to school without uniform shirts mid-week citing that their only uniform shirt "is still in the wash".

If you have any questions or concerns about uniform please email communication@rhs.school.nz
