Highlights for this week
  • Informed Citizen:

    They are making some awesome reels about the Pump Track revamp project and how to develop key skills for media. Check them out on Instagram: RSHS_PW

Environmental Rescue:

  • Three Yr 11 girls are testing water quality in our school environment in order to improve water purity

  • Our pest control Yr 12 boys have been successfully managing the rat and mice population in our school environment. 

  • The 'Garden Girls' are rehabilitating the dilapidated vegetable garden which is over in the Junior high School in order to grow sustainable food for cooking projects.  

Resource Revival :

  • A group of Year 11 boys are looking at recycling food waste and are in the process of designing anaerobic food digester to eventually power our coffee machines

  • Another mixed group of Yr 11s - 13s are looking at how to create an alternative to fiberglass in order to create rowing paddles. 

Future Ready:

  • The Paper Boat crew are experimenting with designs and layout for folding effective paper boats. These girls are still discovering a purpose or need, but the idea is linked to uplifting people’s spirits.

Local Guardians:

  • The Fast team who are looking at first aid training for Junior High students secured funding today for their initiative through their awesome Tuna Tank presentation. This will ensure that they become qualified first aiders who can share their knowledge in a positive way.

Highlight From Last Week

Holi Festival:

Last week Pahl Kumar (Yr 13), Preet Kaur (Yr 13), Heer Tailor (Yr 12), and Hiti Sehgal (Yr 12) from Cultural Preservation Puna helped students celebrate this important event. 

Activities included the sharing of food, drinks, performances, guest speakers and lots of colours   “It allowed students to relieve their stress, come together, celebrate, and have fun.” Guest speakers were from the Indian Association at Waikato University.
