RSHS Newsletter - Term 1, Issue 4

KORERO FROM MIRANDA

Kia ora Rototuna Whānau,

Welcome to Week 9 of the school year. This time of the term can be busy for students as they have covered key learning in subjects and are now preparing to showcase what they have learned in their assessments. This is their opportunity to show how they are able to think deeply and apply their knowledge in critical, creative and caring ways to new contexts.

To this end, progress reports are being sent to you at the end of this week. Your student’s progress is indicated in two ways on this report.

Progress is being reported for your students in both their Wānanga Ako (subjects) and Puna Wānanga (project) classes. Sometimes the indicators do not match what you or your student are expecting. In these cases I encourage you and your student to contact your kaiārahi to help you connect with teachers so you can talk with them, seek clarification and find out what to do to improve progress.

Following directly from these reports you will also see your young person’s accumulated achievements from previous years. You will also be able to see the assessments that are entered into for the year. At this time these assessments are not complete.

Later in this newsletter you will find information highlighting some of our learning in Puna Wānanga, Pathways and Wānanga Ako, a message from the Board, a call for relief teachers, as well as upcoming events. Enjoy reading on and thank you for your ongoing support. Have a great week

Ngā mihi,

Miranda
