Jay Singh-Ladhar

Student Board Representative

Congratulations to Jay Singh-Ladhar who has been voted to be the new Student Board Representative.

Here's Jay's candidate statement:

It's that crucial time of the year again when the student board elections will be occurring, it is essential for everyone to understand each candidate and pick the best one, and I may be that candidate for you.

My name is Jashandeep Singh-Ladhar, more commonly known as Jay Ladhar around school, and this year I have decided to stand in the 2022 Student Board Elections. I consider and understand the school values as I have been a student of the Junior High for 4 years and now I am currently a Year 11 student in the Senior High. In my years in the Junior High a crucial piece that defined me was my leadership capabilities.

A key thing which will make me different from the other candidates would be the amount of previous leadership experience I have had. I was a Student Ambassador in 2019, Manukura in the Junior High in 2020 & 2021, and the captain of our RHS YR 9 & 10 Cricket team in 2020 & 2021. I have proven myself in every leadership opportunity I have taken up and never disappointed in any way as I always try my best in every task given to me.

Notable skills I have are that I work well in a team, am a confident speaker, am responsible, preserve when things get tough, honestly respectfully cast my voice and am trustworthy. Now I have listed these qualities and the only thing I can give you is my word that I use these skills, but I like to believe actions speak louder than words and I promise you that you can see these skills demonstrated in my everyday life even when I am not in a leadership role.

The leadership motto I like to live by is “Don’t be a leader for the badge, be a leader for the people’’. This is a leadership motto I thought of myself but what it means is not to be a leader just because you want that role and want that attention and want to walk around with a badge and not do anything. Be a leader because you want to improve the conditions for the community and listen to their voices on how you can improve the environment around you.
