Papamoa Sports Exchange
This year we were lucky enough to have Papamoa College travel over the Kaimais to the mighty Waikato and face off against RSHS in our annual winter code sporting exchange. It was a beautiful sunny day and the atmosphere within the school was electric as our teams did battle to try to claim the inaugural shield title, contested between the two schools.
All games were played with tremendous spirit and each sporting code players, staff and volunteers represented our school exceptionally well. Not only whilst playing, but also through support by showcasing to Papamoa our community environment.
Our Rugby, Girls Hockey & Football teams had some great wins, while our Boys Hockey, Basketball and Netballers had some outstanding performances but came up short in their matches. With the scores locked at 3-3 Papamoa took the shield on a countback of points, however the day reminded us all of the big picture - how sport is much more than what happens on a playing field.
We look forward to the return next year where we can hopefully bring the shield back over the right side of the Maunga. Congratulations to all students and staff who were involved in the day and a special thanks to our photography crew for capturing some awesome moments for us to reflect on.
