Maadi - Nine RHS students competed in near-perfect rowing conditions at the National Secondary Schools Rowing Champs (Maadi) at Lake Karapiro last week.

This year marked the first season of girls rowing at RHS, with Rosa Armstrong, Skye Bowler and Jiham Kim competing at Maadi in various double sculls combinations. All three crews progressed through the heats and Jiham and Rosa made it through to the B Final of U18 Novice Double Sculls where they placed sixth. This was a great result at this extremely competitive regatta.

The U16 boys coxed four, coxed quad sculls and double sculls (Joel Taylor, Brion Ranginui, Ben McMorran, Jack Hawke, Benjamin O'Connor and coxwain Katie Buckley) rowed well but faced stiff competition in their heats and did not progress any further.
