Aotearoa School Library Week
There was a buzz in the Rāroa all last week to celebrate Aotearoa NZ School Library Week.
Many jigsaw puzzles, book related crosswords, word finds and colouring in was in evidence all week. There was a successful badge making activity that students seem to love, a book sale of second hand books that saw some piles of new reading going home and a final pictogram book title quiz for those clever students who know their books to win prizes at.
We were also lucky enough to be able to take 8 student librarians to the Books Alive event at the National Library, where they got to meet and listen to New Zealand authors and illustrators nominated in the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults. There were some great discussions about writing and the importance of reading and books were bought and signed by authors.
