Regional Cross Country

Ava Sutherland and Lucy Jurke —

Raroa sent 15 of the 40 strong team to Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt in the last week of Term 2 to represent Wellington Intermediates against all other regional teams across Wellington, Porirua and the Hutt Valley.

On Thursday the 5th of July, 15 Raroa students travelled to Harcourt Park Lower Hutt to compete in the regional cross country. We were competing against the whole of the wider Wellington region in our age categories. The top ten in every race go through to the next round, Inter-regionals in Nelson, Rabbit Island.

Year seven girls were Ava Sutherland (1st), Scarlett Anderson (6th) and Scarlett O’Donnell (36th).

Year seven boys who competed were Josh Ingham (11th), MacIntyre Stevens (14th), Max Doherty (15th), Samuel Malden (22nd) and Conor Allison (34th).

Year 8 girls Lucy Jurke (1st), Charlotte White (17th), Tayla Adamson (20th) and Kate Howell (21st).

Year 8 boys who competed were Aidan Henshaw (24th), Connor Haywood (27th) and Hayden Meynell (34th).

Everyone did so well seeing as they had to place top ten in the school cross country and then top ten in the inter ints cross country to get to regionals. Good luck to Lucy, Ava and Scarlett who will compete in Nelson later this term.
