Rāroa Boys 2nd XI Cricket

Written by Zac Bridgman (captain), with the support of his R20 teammates (Conor, Ollie and Quentin) —

On Wednesday the 17th of March, the Rāroa Boys 2nd XI cricket team played against Tawa first XI, and won!

Conditions were not a problem at all. Tawa won the coin toss, and decided to bowl, which meant that we were batting. The score was 164 after a thrilling start by Zac Bridgman with 45 runs, and a great finishing partnership from Lucas Jaine and Conor Rook.

In the second innings they got off to a great start and we couldn’t break the first partnership, but the mounting scoreboard pressure made Tawa make a mistake and we got out the first batsman. From then on the required run rate went up and up, Tawa needed 16 off the last over and Lucas Jaine brought out the best bowling of the day, bowling it full and straight and only letting them get 2 off the over. At the end of the day we came out successful and a good day all around.
