Together We Make a Difference!

Our Annual Street Appeal for Te Wao Nui regional children's hospital is gearing up for an action-packed day on Saturday 30th September, and we need your help to make it a massive success!

Any of us who have had the experience of a sick child who needs hospital treatment, knows how traumatic that can be. And with 87,000 visits to the children’s hospital from tamariki across our region every year, they're counting on us for a brighter, healthier future.

Volunteer collectors are needed in Wellington City, Lower Hutt, Petone, Porirua and Kapiti.

If you can spare just 2 hours of your time to collect, please sign up to your preferred location at https://signup.com/go/WCHStreetAppeal

· This is a great holiday opportunity to teach children about the importance of giving back and helping others. Younger children (16 years and younger) are welcome with an adult.

· Maybe you know of an older student (Year13 & beyond) who’d like to chalk up a few volunteer hours for their CV/Duke of Edinburgh Community Service?

· Alternatively, your family might be aware of a community or corporate group in search of a meaningful volunteering opportunity.

Please sign up today and share with your whānau and friends! For further information contact: streetappeal@whf.org.nz

Royden Smith

I am a registered guitar teacher through the New Zealand Suzuki Institute and have been teaching guitar in Wellington since 2016. I grew up surrounded by music and am determined for Suzuki guitar to flourish in the community. I am a graduate of Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music, holding my Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours).

My lessons cater to each child and focus on encouragement, enjoyment and ensuring progress at a pace which is suited to each student’s development.“Character first, Ability second” – Shinichi Suzuki Suzuki Method

Royden’s Suzuki Guitar Studio follows the pedagogy of Dr Shinichi Suzuki, providing a nurturing environment that develops the whole child, through music. Suzuki discovered that all Japanese children are able to speak Japanese with relative ease. By creating a respectful and nurturing environment, any range of ability, discipline, and beauty within every child, can be cultivated to ultimately improve the human condition, whether it be language acquisition or learning to play an instrument.“Where love is deep, much can be accomplished” – Shinichi Suzuki

For more information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

With the support of the Wellington City Council, Capital BMX Club is trying to get more kids riding bikes. Central Wellington doesn’t have many safe spaces for riding. Capital BMX Club’s facilities in Northland offer the perfect environment for kids with a love for biking to develop their riding skills.

Schools BMX Nationals

In 2024 Capital BMX Club will be hosting BMX NZ’s inaugural Schools BMX Nationals. This event is focused on growing the participation of new riders. More details will be released by BMX NZ soon, but now is the time to start preparing your riders, and Capital BMX’s coaches are ready to help!

To help support these initiatives, we would be grateful if you could include this flyer, promoting Capital BMX Club’s “HAVE A GO” bike riding sessions, into your school newsletters, website or community noticeboard from now until the end of October 2023.

See our flyer below:
