Waimea Intermediate Cultural Visit (Tuesday, 15 November - Friday, 18 November)

The Rāroan —

We have a strong history of exchanges with Waimea Intermediate (Nelson) which were unfortunately interrupted by Covid.

For the past past 30+ years we have had an exchange each year, with one school travelling and being hosted by the other in alternate years. The purpose has been to create a space for the Performing Arts talents to be showcased. A bi-product has been that many enduring friendships have developed.

We are really pleased to confirm that Waimea are bringing a group of about 30 students up to Wellington in Week 5 of Term 4. This is a much smaller group than previous years but it is great to reconnect post-Covid. The travelling group includes Rock Bands and a Boys' Dance Troupe.

We have the pleasure of arranging host families for these students while they are here. We have a proud tradition of showing manaakitanga to our visitors. We do our very best to match travelling students with host families who have common interests.

If you feel you have the capacity to 'adopt' a student for three nights, please complete the attached Google form or get in contact with Kelly directly. We are aware circumstances can change but this will give us a valuable starting point. More information will follow at the beginning of term but getting early indications is very helpful.

Please contact me on k.herbert@raroa.school.nz or give me a call on 0274990330 if more details are needed to make your decision. Ngā mihi, Kelly Herbert
