Māori Cultural Responsiveness and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi

The Rāroa Te Ao Māori Team, leaders and two teachers presented to the Board, Rāroa’s approach and commitment to Māori Cultural Responsiveness and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Board recognised the significant efforts and important work that the school is doing in this area. The Board has agreed to set aside a time at each meeting to review and identify the schools commitments and support further endeavours.

The Principal Report

The Board recognises the array of opportunity for students to achieve, including class outing, events and opportunities which enable students to thrive.

EOTC Policy and Procedure Review

The Board of Trustees presented the recommendation for changes to the EOTC Policy and Procedures, which take in feedback from the community. Recommended changes will be updated on SchoolDocs at the end of the term. Link to Rāroa Policies and procedures

Board of Trustees - Code of Conduct 

The Ministry of Education has issued a Code of Conduct for State School Board Members (including state-integrated school board members), which took effect 21 June 2023.

Approved Dates for 2024

The dates for 2024 were present in the Principal’s Report and approved.

Term One

• 31st January - Transition day for new students

• 1st February - First day of school / Mihi Whakatau

• 6th February - Waitangi Day

• 29th March - Good Friday

• 1st April and 2nd April, Easter Holiday (No School)

• 12th April Last day of Term One

Term Two

• 29th April - First day of Term Two

• 3rd June - King’s Birthday

• 4th June - Teacher Only Day 1

• 28th June Matariki

• 5th July - Last day of Term Two

Term Three

• 22nd July - First Day of Term Three

• 27th September - Last Day of Term Three

Term Four

• 14th October - First Day of Term 4

• 28th October - Labour Day

• 18th Dec - Last Day of School.

These dates are in accordance with Ministry of Education parameters. There will be two additional Ministry of Education allocated Teacher Only Days to put forward when the set parameters for these days are communicated.
