While a Year 8 student at Rāroa in 2022, Amber Chan applied to become an illustrator for the Toitoi magazine.

We have just learnt that Amber was successful in her application and the most recent issue (Issue #31) includes her artwork. It illustrates a poem 'My Grandfather' written by a 13 year old student (please find attached).

Congratulations from all of us, Amber. It is so wonderful that your gifts in visual arts can be shared with, and enjoyed by, others.

The Toitoi magazine is published four times a year to celebrate young New Zealand writers and illustrators. Issue #31, and past issues, can be found in our School Library. Any student age 5-18 years can make submissions to the Toitoi magazine for writing or artworks. Check it out at www.toitoi.nz
