Rāroa has been working with the Ministry of Education and Studio Pacific Architects for a number of years now with a long term plan to addressing aging buildings.

Stage 1 is on its way! However, don't panic, good things take time and the project will be carefully staged. 

Stage one involves.

1. Access way upgrade with improved pedestrian pathways, infrastructure and driveway reconstruction, including upgrading services into the school.
2. Temporary classes to cater for the transition and decant. The focus being on reducing disruption to learning. 
3. The demolition of blocks one and two. These are priority areas, due to the condition. 
4. The building of a new state of the art block one, which includes library, staffroom and performing arts as well as media suites and replacement classrooms.

Stage One will take place over the next few year, it is likely that current students will not be affected greatly and for future students there is an effective management plan in place. 

The Design Team are guided by 5 drivers. The overarching driver is 'It is all about learning'

Redevelopment Driver. 

A huge amount of thought and input has gone in these drivers. Rest assured it is not about big open spaces. It is about creating spaces which are 'Fit for Purpose'
