Messages from the Board of Trustees

The Rāroan —

The Raroa Board has held two meetings during November.

15 November Board Meeting

Strategic Plan: we received nearly 300 responses from the parent community to our survey requesting your input on priorities for our strategic plan. We will be holding a special board meeting in December to discuss your responses, alongside with the input that we have received from staff and students about their priorities. All of this information is extremely valuable and we thank you all for taking the time to contribute. We will share our new strategic plan with you early in the new year.

Policy Reviews: we reviewed our school policies around Harassment and Maori Educational Success. Some minor alterations were made and the updated policies will be available shortly on the school website.

Student Achievement: with our annual Review Meeting scheduled for later in the month, we discussed in detail the nature and scope of the school-wide student achievement data that the Board wants to receive from the Senior Leadership Team ahead of that meeting.

29 November Annual Review Meeting

At our Annual Review Meeting, we received a wealth of information and data from the Senior Leadership Team reviewing the 2021 year. This included: curriculum area reviews, school-wide PAT and OTJ data on student achievement in reading, writing and maths, along with reviews of other critical operational areas such as the library, wellbeing programmes, and the use of targeted learning stories to record achievement. There was robust discussion about a number of different areas. The information and discussions from this Review Meeting will help inform our decision making about the new strategic plan when we meet in early December.
