Kiwi Competition Exams

The Rāroan —

We are providing the chance to sit Kiwi Competition exams again this year.

Kia ora parents and caregivers

Year 7 and 8 students are invited to participate in 'Kiwi Competition' Science, Mathematics and English exams which are facilitated by the University of Canterbury. These examinations are based on the NZ Curriculum and replace the ICAS exams which are based on an Australian curriculum. These skills based Kiwi competitions are written by New Zealand teachers for New Zealand students and closely align with the New Zealand Curriculum.

Students will be awarded a participation, merit or excellence award and individual student reports will be sent home. All participating students will receive a certificate and a prize will be awarded to the top student nationally in each competition.

We will not be doing extra preparation for these examinations, but they will be conducted during school time on dates in the last 3 weeks of Term 2 and the first week of Term 3. Past test papers are not available for practice as these tests are administered online.

Please complete the Google form by Friday 12 April if your child would like to enter any of the exams. We will not be accepting any entries after this date.

There is a cost $10.00 per entry and this will be added to your child's account.
