This term, Rāroa Intermediate were able to enter five teams in the summer touch rugby tournament run by Total Touch down at Alex Moore Park each Monday afternoon.
This is a really awesome programme that organises touch rugby games for all abilities and ages ranging from year 1, all the way up to year 8. All games are refereed by students who progress through touch referee training which provides an awesome experience, and skills for them.
From all accounts, our Rāroa teams really enjoyed the tournament, gaining valuable skills and making friendships throughout the term. I'd like to thank all the parents involved, and Rueben Whaley (Rāroa staff member) for stepping in to coach a team, and acting as team manager ensuring everyone knew game times etc each week.
I am hoping that Rāroa can enter more teams when touch rugby returns in term 4.
