ICAS Writing Results

Congratulations to the 77 students who took part in the ICAS Writing Competition in June!

This year, students were assessed on their ability to write an extended response to a given narrative task. Skills included:

  • how the text had been structured and stylistic and vocabulary choices had been made to achieve the writer’s purpose and engagement of the reader.
  • the correct use of textual grammar and the use of a variety of different types of sentences for effect.
  • the correct use of sentence grammar including punctuation
  • the ability to correctly spell words of increasing levels of complexity

Special congratulations go to these students who gained a Distinction Award (in the top 2-11% of NZ participants in their year level): Sophia Boulieris, Charlotte Horner, Jan Munro, Tuhina Sambhus, Arabella Tries, Lola Wood, Adya Bhargava, Grace Buchanan, Caitlin de Klerk, Jessica Kinsella and Aidan Wheeler.
And to the following students for gaining a Credit Award (in the next 25% of NZ participants in their year level): Izzi Anderson, Lilly Athfield, Alex Brown, Chloe Coles, Amber Hinkley, James Lee-Guard, Shannon McCormick, Angela McGuire, Andy Moran, Sophia Pitchforth, Evie Wright, Scarlett Anderson, Vasha Arunthavathas, Savannah Bridgman, Amy Cable, Josie Cato, Jasmine Cooper, Max Doherty, Yasanya Fernando, Georgia Goldsmith, Molly Mills, Orla O'Meara, Trijal Pednekar, Savannah Pittaway, Daniel Soh, Nathan Stacey, Charlie Wragg and Sophie Xu.
All students who participated should have received a certificate and an individual report detailing their own results in each skill area.
