There are different ways to communicate an absence from school.

1. Using the dedicated answer phone 04 477 5333. 

2. Using the Hero app 

3. You could also email the school office (great for advance notice of absences). 

Please contact us before 9.00am if your child is unable to attend school on any given day. 

Please communicate your child's name, room number, the reason they are absent and your relationship to the child. 

We will follow up all unexplained absences with a phone call or text to you. This system ensures the safety of your child – please make it effective by notifying the school if your contact details ever change during the year.

We are unable to accept a student’s unverified verbal account for an absence. For safety reasons we require explanations by phone to the office or the teacher, or in writing; if you can email please do so, to both your child’s teacher and office@raroa.school.nz This system works well the majority of the time. Occasionally a message does not reach the office – please show understanding with the office staff if this happens.
