Extension Writing

Holly O'Connor —

Its accented features loomed over me as I stared up into its face. Terror? Longing? Worship?

We all saw different things in the faces and poses of the 'Jealous Saboteurs', a City Art Gallery sculpture exhibition by Francis Upritchard. But one thing every Extension Writer found last Wednesday was inspiration ... inspiration for our next writing project!
Getting on the bus at around nine-thirty, we all were full of excitement and chatter about the upcoming event. When we piled off and embarked on our journey of inspiration we were all ready to write and discover- and that we did. The statues were twisted, human yet inhuman, with their eyes always covered. They appeared to be frozen in the moment. We were each given a statue and had to describe its personality. We did various activities before moving on to another gallery- objects for our characters. In the end, we all learned a lot and had a lot of fun.
