An update from Te Kahui Ako o Tarikaka

The Rāroan —

The purpose of being a Kāhui Ako is so that we can work together for the benefit of our students, our communities, our teachers, for the wider education community and the wider community, in general. We believe that working together as a Kāhui Ako will open up worlds of opportunities; in particular, it will enable expertise to be shared, learnings to be shared, resources, professional development opportunities and partner in providing effective transition through a students entire schooling.

Over the last term, the lead principals and across school leaders have been working towards our wellbeing survey which will be sent out to schools in Term three. Data from this wellbeing survey was initially collected at the starting point of the Kāhui back in 2020. Reflecting on how far we have come, will give us tangible data to see how well we are doing and what, as a cluster of schools, we can work towards in the coming years. Across school leaders have also been working to build connections with other Kāhui across the Wellington region, seeing what they have been working on, and how best we can support and collaborate together for the greater benefit of our tamariki. Our Hubs of Interest which started at the beginning of the year are humming. Kaiako from across the cluster are choosing hubs that they are interested in and meeting together to continue to focus on professional development. These include, but not limited to:
- Effective Literacy Programmes- Trauma Informed Practice - Aotearoa New Zealand Histories
- Pasifika Learners Hub - Numeracy Practice. All information on the work that we are doing currently can be found on: https://www.kahuiakotarikaka.com/
