Achievement in Reading, Writing and Maths celebrated.

The Rāroan —

95% of students at Rāroa made positive progress in Writing. 87% of students at Rāroa made positive progress in Maths. 81% of students at Rāroa made positive progress in Reading.

Keep in mind that many of our students are topping the tests, so progress is difficult to measure.

In Maths 83% of our year 8 students will leave Rāroa at or above their expected level. 78% in Reading and 66% in Writing. This includes some of our amazing students who have a range of individual circumstances whereby their progress is an achievement in itself, rather than the expected level. We are very proud of their efforts.

In many ways it has been a particularly challenging year. As you know, we have maintained a commitment to not let this inhibit our aspirations and goals. We have worked hard to make sure students get the full benefits of an intermediate.

It is important to recognise that this year has been like no other. Term 1 and 2 have been described as two of the most challenging terms in NZ education.

Teacher absence due to covid and a range of circumstances combined with a lack of relievers has had an impact on classroom programmes. However, as mentioned, our commitment to giving our students the very best did not falter.

Progress is the winner on the day.
