The Raroa Board of Trustees met online on Monday 21 February.
With the school year underway, Stephen Eames updated the board on how students and staff are settling into school with the current Covid restrictions in place and we discussed some aspects of those restrictions. We have a health and safety committee that is meeting regularly to monitor and to respond to the rapidly changing conditions and requirements, and we passed on our thanks to that group for their work.
We discussed a draft of our three-year Strategic Plan (2022 - 2024) and our 2022 Annual Plan. We’re excited about what lies ahead for the school and the direction in which we are moving. A few amendments are being made to the draft documents and we will share the final version with you very soon. Once again, we’d like to thank you for contributing your ideas and feedback via the parent survey in term 4 of last year.
As part of our regular review cycle, we reviewed our policies around Risk Management, Health and Safety Induction, and Safety Management Systems. As part of our overarching obligation to minimise risk to our students and staff, we are introducing a requirement for all volunteer helpers attending overnight camps to be police vetted. This policy change will take immediate effect; parents applying to assist at this year’s camps will need to be police vetted. If you are volunteering to assist at a camp (and we hope many of you are), prior to obtaining your explicit consent to be vetted, we will give you detailed information about how we will handle and protect any information that we receive as a result of the process.
With many parents being new to the school, we invite you all to take a look through our school policies. We use the School Docs system for managing our policy portfolio and you are very welcome to give feedback at any time. Click here for a direct link to our Raroa policies on School Docs. Once at the site, you will need to enter our username (raroa) and our password (aspire).
