EPro8 Engineering Challenge

The Rāroan —

The EPro8 Challenge is the inter-school science and engineering competition. Every year over 25,000 students from throughout New Zealand take part. Students participate in a series of events: firstly within their school and then inter-school. These events are designed to promote science, engineering and problem solving.

This year Rāroa had two teams compete in the EPro8 Challenge, with the interschool heats held at South Wellington Intermediate in early October. From that event, our Rāroa Tuis were selected to compete at the semifinal event this week (hosted at Rāroa), where they placed second equal and earned their spot in the finals.

Schools from around the greater Wellington region, as far afield as Paraparaumu and Wairarapa, came to take part in the Grand Finals at Rāroa on Thursday night. The Tuis did a brilliant job working through the engineering problems, showing grit and determination all the way through to the final buzzer.

We are super proud of all the students who took part in the EPro8 Challenge for 2023 and look forward to next year's event.
