Board of Trustees Update

The Rāroan —

The Rāroa School Board met online on Monday 21 March.

  • We put the final touches on our new Strategic Plan and Annual Plan. Stephen Eames shared highlights of the Plan in last fortnight’s Rāroan. We are delighted to now give you a link to the full document: here.  - Link to Charter

  • Putting our Annual Plan to immediate use, we received an update on current progress against the strategic priorities. We heard about interventions and professional development to lift writing and maths achievement data to more consistent levels, along with strategies to embed learning, resilience and wellness amongst students.

  • We discussed the impact Covid-19 is having on operations and on student learning. Absences amongst students and staff have been significant this term. We thanked the school’s Health and Safety Committee for all of its work to ensure the ongoing safe operation of the school.

  • This year is an election year for School Boards. Elections will be held in September with nominations being called in June/July. We have three parent representative positions up for election and we’d love you to consider standing. If you’re at all interested, we encourage you to come and observe a board meeting to see what goes on. Next term we'll meet on Monday 16 May and Monday 20 June at 6.30pm. You are also very welcome to contact any of our board members to chat about the role. Our details are on the school website or can be obtained from the school office.
