Rāroa is included in the MOE property review.

You may have heard about the Government’s announcement on 26 February about an inquiry into the school property system and through the many articles circulating since then.

The Government’s inquiry is looking at the overall system and settings to understand the effectiveness and efficiency of property delivery.

The Ministry of Education has identified the need for a review of Rāroa’s redevelopment project. This review is underway and will take a number of months to complete.

While they are reviewing the cost efficiency of the project they will take into consideration the core issue that the project is addressing, namely the condition of blocks 1 and 2, which have temporary propping in place, as this remains a priority. As well as ‘hopefully’ addressing capacity needs, including our technology classes which have overflowed into classrooms.

In the meantime we are continuing to maintain our ageing buildings so that every learning space is safe and healthy and our school is aesthetically smart and professional.
