Congratulations to the following students who represented Rāroa at the Chess Power Nationals Tournament held in Rotorua at Labour Weekend: James O'Doherty, Levi Alexander, Liam O'Connor, Jacob Allison and Niko Fea Hurst.

'The tournament was daunting but challenging and enjoyable. It was very tiring mentally and the gym at Lymore School was very hot. We played nine games; the first two games were randomly assigned and then the following games were based on those results. Even though chess is an individual sport, we were a strong team where everyone supported each other after each game. A big thanks to our families for getting us there - we appreciate your support.'
