Outstanding Maths Problem-Solvers at Rāroa!

The Rāroan —

This year, 100 Year 7 & 8 students incorporated the Otago Maths Problem-Solving Challenges into their learning experiences, in order to further develop their problem-solving skills.

This programme is run by Otago University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and students are required to attempt five complex maths problems in 30 minutes, five times a year. Quite an undertaking!

Congratulations to all the students who took on these challenges. 62% of our students were in the top 10% of students in New Zealand and received the award of Excellence.

We would like to especially acknowledge the following students who were in the top 1% of students and received a book voucher as well as the Excellence Award:
Matthew Power, Luca Saito, Ivy Guo, Darshan Moodley, Aristide Touchard, Thomas Tyson, Sophia Comoletti, Ellie Palmer, Eden Flood, Micah Johnson, Lincey Jiang, Eleanor Shaw and Bella Wang.
