Te Rangatahi - Noho Mārae

The Rāroan —

Our Te Rangatahi Kapa Haka rōpu had our Noho Mārae in Week 1 of Term 2. It was the first day back and our ākonga were fizzing to stay over in the Hall.

The purpose of this overnighter was to develop expectations of the rōpu, build whānaungatanga (relationships between our group members) and explain to our ākonga the privilege of being a part of our only kapa haka group. Our rōpu enjoyed shared kai, getting to know different kaiako and learning about Rāroa and our history, as well as spending a night with their mates. Overall, the experience was awesome and will continue for years to come.

A special mention to our kaiako Kayne Hawea, Leah McKenzie, Harriet Quin, Kelly Herbert, Bridget Baker, Shona Dowman, Matt Boucher and Reem Arhaim for the support.
