This is a short update to keep you informed on primary teachers’ collective agreement negotiations. Taking a no surprises approach, so that you can plan ahead.

NZEI Te Riu Roa primary teacher members have endorsed a one-day strike on Wednesday 31 May.

We believe that the Strike is unlikely to go ahead due to ongoing negotiations between NZEI and the Government. If a strike goes ahead, the Board of Trustees will close the school due to the fact that the majority of teachers are union members and we would not be able to provide supervision for students.

Another action endorsed by NZEI members is a ban on meetings outside of 8.30am-4.30 from 1-30 June. We will also keep you updated regarding what this will look like for Rāroa students and teachers.
