Wrapperless Lunch Update

Enviro Team —

Thanks so much to everyone who participated and helped reduce the amount of rubbish at Raroa. We had over 300 wrapperless lunches brought to school during our wrapperless lunch competition.

Congratulations to Rooms 21 and 22 for taking out the competition and winning themselves a shared wrapperless lunch! A congratulations also goes out to our runners up Rooms 19 and 15.

Some students came to a honey wrap making workshop and made their own re-usable beeswax wrap. See here for the instructional video if you would like to make your own.

Wrapperless Week! Our second wrapperless competition will be a week long competition. The number of wrapperless lunches in each class will be counted every morning. The class with the highest total at the end of the week will win a shared wrapperless lunch in the last week of term.

To help you in preparing wrapperless lunches here is a list of what is in and the reasons why:

– plastic boxes (take home to reuse)

- honey wrap (you can wash it and use it again)

– sushi box (recycle bin)

– yogurt pot (wash and recycle)

– ziploc bags (take home to reuse)

– raisin packets (paper bin)

– paper wrappers (compost if dirty, paper bin if clean)

Remember to bring your wrapperless lunches week 9!  Lets beat 300!!
