Team Mahi Ako presents Science of the Senses

The Raroan —

Kia ora,

This term the DPE team and Mahi Ako teachers worked together to plan a Science of the Senses unit. This culminated on Tuesday night with a presentation evening, which was enjoyed by students, teachers and whanau.
All the teachers are extremely proud of the work, commitment and creativity the students put into their learning, and how they presented this. We are also pleased to have been able to showcase how Design and Production Education (DPE) has evolved and the benefits of using the strengths of classroom and specialist teachers together.
This was a wonderful way to conclude a very successful term. The students have worked hard and achieved a great deal. Everyone is ready for a well deserved break.
Without the support and enthusiasm of family members (and bravery trying some of the food!) it would not have been the huge success it turned out to be. For emerging adolescence it is common to move from reliance upon family groups to friendship groups. Maintaining a strong connection with whanau, especially at this age gives them the strongest foundation to build their futures upon. Community attendance reinforced this and made it a fantastic experience not only for the students but everyone who came to the exhibition. Well done to everyone involved!!!
