We are thrilled to share the results of our recent Education Review Office (ERO) report, which highlights the tremendous success of Rāroa Normal Intermediate across multiple areas. This achievement is a reflection of the dedication, passion, and hard work of our entire school community—students, staff, and whānau alike.

The ERO report commended Rāroa for fostering a positive, inclusive environment where learners are engaged, achieve positive outcomes and many make accelerated progress during their two years at the school.  The report notes that quality teaching practices ensure students experience meaningful and intentional learning. 

Another standout success in the report was the acknowledgment of our students' have purposeful opportunities to learn across the breadth and depth of the New Zealand Curriculum and increasingly experience teaching that is responsive to their individual learning needs. The report also highlighted the effectiveness of leadership and that the school has well-aligned systems, structures and practices which underpin successful conditions for learning.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of our dedicated staff. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the sports field, or through extracurricular activities, our teachers, support staff, and leadership team consistently go above and beyond to create an environment where students can thrive. Their commitment to nurturing every child's potential has been pivotal in our success.

We are equally proud of our students, whose enthusiasm for learning and willingness to take on challenges have made this outstanding result possible. The strong sense of community and mutual respect that exists at Rāroa is reflected in how our students engage with their education and contribute positively to the wider school culture.
