Schools’ Pride Week Aotearoa

The Rāroan —

This term Rāroa Intermediate celebrated Schools' Pride Week with a range of fun activities developed by our students and supported by our kaiako and staff.

This was an ideal opportunity for our akonga, kaiako, support staff and community to show support in bringing rainbow identities into our school and classroom! It helps make a huge difference to rainbow tamariki (or those with rainbow parents and whānau) to see themselves reflected in the world, and know they are OK, and can thrive, shine and grow freely.

This years Rainbow Baking competition was so well supported it took over the library and nearly caused a riot! The most amazing array of colourful cakes, meringues, biscuits and delicacies were produced and made the voting by teachers impossible. Congratulations to everyone who spent time and energy creating such masterpieces. It was an excellent way to start Schools' Pride Week.

Other activities included a Drag Costume competition, a Button Making session, a COLA Dance Party and finally a House Pride Week Quiz.

There was also a Rainbow Class Decorating competition, which was won by Room 14.
