Whai Wāhi’s Te Papa Trip

The Rāroan —

Like other teams across the school, Whai Wāhi have been exploring Aotearoa Histories for our pākiki (inquiry) this term.

We have explored life during war, health issues and pandemics across time, Māori voyaging and navigation and zoomed in specifically on how Johnsonville has evolved and changed over the last 100 years.

Before we take a deep dive into an area that has interested us over the last few weeks, we went on a trip to Te Papa to look at some of the relevant exhibitions. We did a Mana Whenua activity trail on Level 4, discovering the hidden stories among the taonga Māori and also had an educated guided tour of the Gallipoli exhibition. Our guides made the content easier for us to understand and we learnt a lot!

We now have a big job of deciding what we want to zoom in on in more detail from our learning so far this term.
