Dear Parents & Caregivers

Our School Athletics Day will be held on Friday 16th February, at Nairnville Park, Khandallah. Start time is 8.40 a.m. Teachers will mark attendance at the park in the morning and at lunchtime.

Students are expected to make their own way to and from Nairnville Park on this day. They should not turn up at school, as there will be no transport provided from school to Nairnville Park. Please talk to your child as to how they might get to Nairnville Park on this day. The Churton Park school bus will not continue beyond Raroa and will not pick the students up after the event. Options for those on the bus is to then catch the train to Simla Crescent or be dropped directly to Nairnville Park.

Over the next few days your child will find out which House they will be placed in. Athletics Day is our first big House event and we encourage your child to wear their House colours. Raki = Black, Uru = Green, Rawhiti = White and Tonga = Red. It is fantastic to see all the students dressed up in House colours as it really adds to the day.

Outline of the day:

8:50am 1500m - Optional

9:00-11:40 am Year 7 students = Field Events

Year 8 students = Track Events

11.50am 800m - Optional

12:00-2:40 pm Year 7 students = Track Events

Year 8 students = Field Events

Sunsmart: Please make sure your child has sunblock on before they leave for school; has a hat with them and lots of water as well as food for the day. We will have sunblock at the park for children to reapply during the day. We will have our school shade tents (if the wind allows) but they do not hold 700 students.

Sausage Sizzle Sausages are for sale $2 each. Vegetarian and gluten free options available.

Cancellations will be on Hero, the school Facebook page or the school website. The postponement date

is Tuesday 27th February.
