Kelvin Grove Kindergarten — Jan 25, 2024

Nau mai, Haere mai ki Ruahine Kelvin Grove Kindergarten, where creative young minds are inspired, extended and prepared for lifelong learning.

We believe skills and knowledge acquired as children lay important foundations for continued learning. We aim to make learning fun and for children to leave our environment with a positive attitude about themselves as a learner.

Our trained and enthusiastic teachers recognise, extend and celebrate group as well as individual learning. Children are presented with an abundance of opportunities to explore numeracy, scientific concepts, literacy and the creative arts.

Children's love of music and movement is cultivated through music sessions.

We enjoy regular excursions and visitors are welcomed into our learning environment to share their knowledge.

Families are valued as participants in their children's learning and invited to join in Kindergarten activities.

Ruahine Kelvin Grove Kindergarten is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm, and closed over the Christmas and New Year break, as well as one week during the year when teachers are engaged in professional development (dates to be advised on enrolment).

We have an open door policy, do please drop in to see us, or contact our Head Teacher Leanne to arrange a visit – contact details below - we look forward to meeting you and your child.

What Our Whānau Say

"Thank you for such a beautiful and warming welcome for Xanthia and her whanau. We feel very settled and blessed to be home, her transition has been smooth thanks to the kindhearted teachers that have supported her journey into Kelvin Grove Kindergarten. Ka nui nga mihi."

"Excellent teachers that really care about the kids. Great resources that allow children to explore and develop their interests. Great sense of community."

"They have been very warm and loving to us and our daughter. She seems quite confident and happy to attend Kelvin Grove and make new friends. She seems more ready to join school."

"Supports child learning. Helps and does planning when they see an area a child is struggling in. Makes child feel welcome and important."

"Helping to create kind and thoughtful children, caring for my children, encouraging creativity and individualism."

"Always welcomed him in and when he struggled to say goodbye to Mum they’ve been great at distracting him or giving him a little cuddle if that’s what he needed. Learnt about his interests and who his friends are. Great at making it a safe space for him, he’s the type of kid who’s slow to warm up but once he loves a space and the people he’ll come out of his shell, and he’s always been excited and telling stories of his day when he gets home so I know he loves it there and loves the people!"

"I highly recommend Kelvin Grove Kindergarten.  I have used this facility for my three boys, one of who still attends.  We have recently moved just out of town, and I still wouldn't consider changing/or even looking at another Centre. The teachers are truly amazing and create a genuine safe & fun learning environment for children to strive.  I would recommend Kelvin Grove Kindy to any parent looking for care for their children." Sarah

"Kelvin Grove Kindergarten has been a wonderful place to send out two grandchildren to.  The nurturing, caring and whānau orientated atmosphere has been so rewarding to the boys in terms of their social, mental and education growth.  The staff have been amazing to work alongside and to connect with they have a genuine interest in the children and their whānau.  I would absolutely recommend parents/caregivers/guardians to send their tamariki to Kelvin Grove Kindergarten and become a part of their community and whānau.  Kelvin Grove Kindergarten was recommended to us by parents of other tamariki who attended in the past and was a natural choice for us. " Alaina

"Kelvin Grove Kindergarten offers so many great learning experiences for children.  The environment is inviting, with lots for the children to explore, and the teachers go above and beyond to help the children be settled and thrive while in their care.  My son loves going to Kindergarten and he is learning so many valuable things along the way."

"Thank you for supporting us through Ruby's transition into your kindergarten.  She has had the best first day and is excited to come back on Friday".

"We love Kelvin Grove Kindergarten, the support and nurturing care you provide to my son ensures that he can achieve the goals he sets himself.  You always feel welcome and supported as a family too.  It is such a diverse and inclusive environment for everyone".

"Charlie is so lucky to have been part of the enriching and positive environment that is Kelvin Grove Kindergarten for the last two years. All our children (Jack, Mckenzie and Charlotte) have had such great experiences at kindy and thank you so much for supporting them all on their learning journey. Ngā mihi nui 😊"

Our daughter is thriving at school and I would attribute a lot of that to her positive experience at kindy."

"All three of my children have attended Kelvin Grove Kindergarten. I appreciate the quality teaching that they’ve received."

My sons love coming to kindy to learn, meet other children and interact with lovely teachers."
