Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning

Nau Mai, Haere Mai, set in the heart of Palmerston North's CBD, Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning is a welcoming and inclusive oasis for tamariki, and a convenient location for whānau with great schools nearby.

We have two learning spaces - a cosy and nurturing space for tamariki under 2 years of age, supported by qualified and experienced infant and toddler kaitiaki; and a larger space for over 2's with qualified pouako experienced with this older pre-school age group.

At Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning, we have a strong sense of kotahitanga, or togetherness.  Our programme is based on Te Whāriki with a keen interest in the natural world and a beautiful outdoor environment where ngā tamariki thrive on physical  challenges.

Our centre is open Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 5.30pm, and closed between Christmas and New Year, plus 8 days per year while teachers participate in professional development (dates to be advised on enrolment; please note there is no fee charged when the centre is closed).

Please contact our Centre Manager Bex on 06 356 4078 to arrange a visit.

What Our Whānau Say

"Thank you so much for your kind words and support for Linaya as she prepares to embark on this exciting new journey. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful for the wonderful experiences and values she has learned during her time at Campbell Street. Your guidance and encouragement have helped shape Linaya into the confident, kind, and resilient girl she is today. While we will miss the familiar faces and cherished moments at Ruahine Campbell Street, we are excited about the new opportunities and challenges that await her at Central Normal School. Linaya is looking forward to continuing her learning journey and embracing everything that comes her way. Thank you for everything, and for making her time at Campbell Street so memorable."

"Thanks team! She celebrated her birthday for the whole week. And her sister still sings happy birthday to her at least once a week lol. Can’t believe it’s been 5 years already - and 4 years she’s been at Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning!"

"When I think back to the first day we came to visit Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning - we knew then that this was the place for our girl. And that feeling was right! She has flourished at Campbell Street and we can’t thank all the amazing teachers and helpers enough. From day one she has been wrapped in a blanket of aroha and support! We feel so lucky to have been able to have this kind of care for her. We know she will miss Campbell Street when she heads off to school."

“Ruahine Campbell Street taught Charlotte how to have a sense of belonging while also becoming her own person. They give us peace of mind knowing she is in a safe warm environment where she’s cared for really well. They allow her to have a freedom to discover play in a safe space. Bex and all of the teachers have been incredibly friendly and welcoming whenever we are at the centre, and giving us updates on how Charlotte was on that day. We also love the whānau evenings that were organised (Christmas, and the Matariki night is AMAZING!).”

“Amazing team of teachers! A home away from home for the kids.”

"Thank you so much Loren, Gabby and the rest of the team for making her welcome into Campbell Street. I honestly cannot believe how fast time flies with a little 6 month old coming into the centre to a now 2 year old running around. As a mum, the decision to return to work while her child is so young is the hardest choice to make but I honestly rave about Campbell Street about how easy it is and being full time at such a young age can definitely take its toll and the worries of making the right decisions can sometimes be overwhelming, however You and the team made me feel at ease and the open lines of communication made things so much easier. I have to thank you for teaching Charlotte so much in her life so far, she has really flourished and can communicate so well through sign, te reo and also basic English. you have done so well nurturing and loving her as part of your own Whanau and you can definitely tell Charlotte is loved at Campbell Street just as she would have been at home. Words cannot express how sincerely thankful I am and I cannot wait till Charlotte explores more of Campbell Street in the Over 2s and makes connections with her friends and also teachers. Thank you thank you thank you!"

"Thank you for all the care, attention and aroha you have shown Alex over the last 2 1/2 years. Alex has enjoyed his time immensely, he has made some great friends and has developed into a confident, independent ball of energy - ready to take on the world!

Thank you for providing such a supportive and nurturing environment for him".

"Thank you so much for all the support and aroha you have provided Oliver.  He settled so well and has had such a peaceful, enjoyable time with you all.  We appreciate your planning, the interesting and varied learning opportunities and the way you have supported his learning.  Oliver starts school confident in his identity as a person and learner.
Thank you very much."

"Freyberg High Gateway Department are so grateful for the support and opportunity given to Casta throughout her gateway work placement this year. It has been invaluable for Casta and we hope to work together again nest year."

"Wow what can I say!  Your all amazing and we all love how much you have worked, loved, nurtured her to encourage and allow her to fly high."

"Thank you from the bottom of our heart!  For loving and caring for our Lucy.  For all the cuddles, experiences and laughs.  Thank you for helping Lucy thrive and getting her ready for her new adventure at school.  Whanau we are so grateful for the time Lucy has spent with each and everyone of you."

"To the amazing team, thank you very much for all the help and support you have given us while we have been transitioning into the Centre.  We feel so lucky to be apart of Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning team."

"Thank you very much for the care that you have given to Thea and our whanau during our time at  Ruahine Campbell Street Early Learning.  We really appreciate it.  Wishing you all the very best."
