Welcome Cardinal John and Archbishop Paul

Maureen Phillips —

This week we will welcome Cardinal John (pictured left) back to Richmond as he joins us to celebrate the Commissioning Mass for top of the south Catholic School staff. You will also note in this weeks Welcome magazine that the Archdiocese of Wellington has welcomed Paul Martin (right) as Archbishop of Wellington.

Archbishop Paul is a familiar face in our area.  His sister Maree Hall, her husband Iain and children Josh, Grace, Peter and Sam are members of the Saint Paul's and Garin community.  It is always special when Archbishop Paul is visiting his family as he will often celebrate Mass alongside our Parish Priest, Father Seph.

The Commissioning of our teaching staff is always a special occasion hence the presence of Cardinal John to commission those involved in educating the students in our Catholic Schools.

God created us to live and grow in love. By being stewards of God’s gifts, teachers take an active part in bringing this vision of life into being. The special blessing given at the Commissioning Mass recognises the Grace that comes from God that nourishes teachers in their role.

Parents are also entrusted with a special role and responsibility in forming their children in faith. So we also ask God's blessing on each of you at this time of the year.
