STAFF NEWS

Philippa Hood —

There are two staffing changes happening over the next few weeks.

MRS JOY BRYANT TO RETIRE

After nearly 30 years in education, the last 6 of them at St Paul’s, Joy Bryant has decided to retire from teaching. Joy has taught many of your children over the years and like us, you will know her to be a thorough, well informed and experienced classroom teacher with high expectations and a real fondness for the children in her care. She is held in the highest regard amongst the staff at St Paul’s for the understated, committed and professional approach to her job. Joy has provided service above and beyond the role of a classroom teacher, running our school library and annual book fair with huge success over the years. Joy’s decision to retire becomes effective at the Easter break and Joy is very much looking forward to spending time in her extensive garden and in the hills where she will indulge in her love of tramping. We wish her well in her retirement!

Joy is part of a job share with the other teacher being Mrs Maria McTague. A fixed term appointment will be made for the rest of the year and we will let you know as soon as possible who this will be .

MRS SARAH JEFFRIES WINS THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL JOB AT RANZAU SCHOOL

Mrs Sarah Jeffries has recently won the position of Deputy Principal at Ranzau School. This is a tremendous achievement for Sarah and is testament to her skills and knowledge as a teacher. We are all very proud that another school has recognised her exceptional skills and whilst we are sad to be losing her, we acknowledge that this move is an important step for her personally and professionally on what is sure to be a stellar career in school administration and leadership. A hearty congratulations and all of our best wishes go to Sarah on her appointment which she will take up  as near to the start of term 2 as possible

In order to make staff transitions as smooth as possible on both the school community and our students, our intention is to appoint a replacement teacher for Sarah in the next few weeks. The support and enthusiasm that the parents of our New Entrant/ Year 1 have shown for teaching and learning in our Junior Learning Space has been fantastic and we are confident that a new teacher will be able to, alongside Sarah Trolle, continue to nurture and grow our students’ love of learning with the scaffolding put in place by the two Sarahs!

I will update progress in the newsletter as well as contact all New Entrant/Year 1 parents once an appointment has been made.
