End of Term 2

Maria McTague —

We made it!!

The end of term has arrived, meaning a welcome break for everyone. The last few weeks have seen significant levels of sickness amongst our students and teachers.  Hopefully a two week break will enable a ‘reset’ button giving children and staff time to rest and recuperate before starting again in Term 3.

The past two weeks have seen a few more sporting events taking place with both Intermediate Cross Country competitions and Primary Cross Country championships take place. Nicholas Newberry in year 5 has shown that he is going to be a name to watch in the future with his 6th place at the Tasman Primary Schools championships. This week the Primary Schools Rippa Tournament finally went ahead on a beautiful winter’s day at Greenmeadows. It is great to see the sporting calendar slowly get underway again.

Keeping with the subject of sport, we are very excited to announce that our very own Miss Claudia Green has been selected to play for the White Ferns at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Claudia is a dedicated teacher and an outstanding sportswoman and we wish her every success in her New Zealand call up.

During the holidays some exciting building refurbishment work will begin in the Junior Block, so there may be some changes when the children return. The work will be preparation work for steel beams and large sliding doors between rooms. Work will continue as and when building supplies are available over the coming months but it will be great to see that the project is getting underway.

Next term we will be holding Parent Interviews as part of our schedule of reporting to parents. These interviews will be held on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 4 (23/24 August) and will be able to be booked through our usual bookings site. Details of how to book, including dates and times available will be sent home in Week one of next term. A second written Report will go home in Week 4 of Term 4.

At the beginning of Term 3 it will be great to have Maureen return, we know all the children and staff will be ready to welcome her back to St Paul’s following her sabbatical. Enjoy the holidays with your children, we hope it will be a happy and healthy one for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you all back again in Term 3.
